Next trilateral meeting to be held in Turkey: Çavuşoğlu

TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu told the media at the end of the Baku trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan that the next meeting will be held in Turkey.

“Based on the reached agreement, the next trilateral meeting will be held in Turkey, but this time with economy ministers and private sector representatives of the three countries present in the meeting,” said Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Foreign Minister of Turkey on Wednesday.

The Turkish top diplomat made the remarks at the press conference following the trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan in Baku.

“Turkey is importing oil and gas from Azerbaijan and Iran, and Ankara is mulling over increasing the volume of oil products import from these two countries,” noted Mr. Çavuşoğlu referring to the expansion of cooperation between the three countries in the area of energy.

The Turkish foreign minister reassured that Turkey will complete the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline by 2018 in cooperation with Azerbaijan and will continue jointly working on TANAP and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

The Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey to Europe.

According to Turkish diplomat, cultural issues and tourism, in addition to economy and energy issues, were also discussed at the trilateral meeting of Baku.
